Redemption's Gate Patient: Shandy Candy

[Hostis Humani Generis]

You wake up in your cell some time later, unaware you had fallen asleep at all. You sit up in bed groggily, looking around you. You notice a small backpack in one corner with a letter affixed to it. As you walk over to read the letter, you realize that the door to your cell is wide open. You can hear a guard talking some distance away, getting closer.

What do you wish to do?

Grab the backpack and read the letter.

[Hostis Humani Generis]

Grabbing the backpack, out spills a drawing canvas, a piece of charcoal, and a pocket watch. The letter reads:

Hello, Shandy Dandy.

Your goal is simple: Survive. The patients have escaped their cells and the guards have proceeded to attack without provocation. Your first instructions are to exit your cell and head West. Follow the hall until you find an open cell door. Enter that cell and check under the bed. You will find a small opening, which you must crawl through. Further instructions to follow.

By the time you finish reading, the guard has arrived at your cell door. He looks angry.

What do you wish to do?

"Excuse me, sir, is it a bit drafty in here?"

The guard says nothing. He merely tosses a blanket to you and walks away.

Stuff the stuff back into the pack, check outside the door.

To the east is the guard as he continues walking away, and to the west the hallway is clear.

As you walk down the hallway, you check each of the cells for one with an open door. When you find one, you notice that the patient within is still alive. She's breathing, but is otherwise motionless.

What do you wish to do now?

[Shanbanana]

Is she on the bed sleeping? If so, I'd like to sneak in under her bed and into the hole.

She is sprawled on the floor in a way that makes it impossible to get under the bed without disturbing her.

What do you wish to do now?

[Shanbanana]

Bah! Can I lift the bed? If not, drag her as quickly as I can out of the room, shut the door, and then scurry into the hole.

The bed is bolted down.

You drag the girl into the hallway and close the cell door when you go back in. As you begin crawling down the hole, you see the girl sitting up slightly and mouthing something out. Before you can understand what she said, a large creature walks down the hall and crushes her. It looks into the cell and roars, but you are down to the bottom before it can attempt anything.

Looking around, you see that you are in some sort of maintenance tunnels. It's absolutely dark, excluding the dim bulbs hanging here and there. You can head south or you can head north.

What do you wish to do?

South.

You begin heading south. Fifteen or twenty minutes pass before you reach a ladder that heads back to the surface.
